FEED THE CHILDREN EVENT
(FEEDING SENIORS RAISING GRAND-CHILDREN)
For the past two years, MRCF has sponsored the "Feed the Children" Program by bringing to Jackson, an 18-wheeler, filled with food and related items. The main priority for this program is targeting Seniors who are raising grand-children.The MRCF partners with the State of Mississippi Department of Human Services, Division of Community Services, which has been instrumental in helping with the logistics of this event. State Agencies come in from different locations to take food back to their local agencies, to use for their normal feeding programs. The 2003 effort was estimated to have helped over 5,000 people in the state of Mississippi.
This event has proven to be an outstanding event in the Foundation's history, and will hopefully be a part of our programs for many years to come.
